Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard (born 1966), Ph.D. (Pol.Sci.), M.Sc. (Cand.phil., Soc.Sci.) and B.A. (Copenhagen), and M.A. (Pol.Sci.) (Columbia), is Professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen, where he has held various positions since 1991, and where he specializes in political institutions, political economy and American politics, especially issues such as elections, electoral systems and constitutions.  Before his current position, he was professor at the Dept. of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark and assistant professor at the Dept. of Political Science, University of Aarhus (1998-2000).  He has held visiting appointments at several institutions, including Cambridge University, Columbia University, New York University, etc., and the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University. Kurrild-Klitgaard is the recipient of Fyens Stiftstidende's Research Award (2003), the Pol.Sci. Teacher of the Year Award (2007) and “Harald of the Year Award” (2007), and as a graduate student at Columbia University he was a Fulbright Scholar and a Claude R. Lambe Fellow. He writes as a columnist and commentator for Berlingske Tidende (1998-2002 and again since 2004) and has previously done so for Politiken (2003-04) and Dagen (2002), and is frequently used by radio and TV as a commentator on Danish and US politics. He is also regularly used as a speaker outside academia. Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard is the author of several books, most recently Individ, Stat og Marked: Studier i Rationalitet og Politik (2005), Bushs Amerika (2005) og Adam Smith: Økonom, Filosof, Samfundstænker (2004).  He has also edited and co-authored such books as Partier og Partisystemer i Forandring (2008), The Dynamics of Intervention (2006), Valg, Vælgere og Velfærdsstat (2000), Etik, Marked og Stat: Liberalismen fra Locke til Nozick (1992) et al., and contributed to many anthologies, including Encyclopedia of Public Choice (2004). Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard has held positions in a number of academic organizations, including as president of the Danish Political Science Association, and as member of the Board of the Nordic Political Science Association, the council of the International Political Science Association, and Center for Politiske Studier (CEPOS).  He has also been elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (UK) and the Mont Pelerin Society, and he currently serves as vice president of the latter. He has served as member and vice president of the Danish government’s National Social Science Research Council and has been its representative in the European Science Foundation.  He has worked with several academic journals, i.a., as a member of the Editorial Boards of Scandinavian Political Studies, the Journal of Private Enterprise and the Journal of Libertarian Studies and on the advisory editorial board of International Encyclopedia of Political Science, and he currently is European Editor of Public Choice. Except for a bit of skiing and hunting Peter has not exercised regularly for a long time, but he once enjoyed horse-riding, fencing, karate (4. kyu) and jiu-jitsu (2. kyu) and he still enjoys watching tennis. Even less physically demanding hobbies include medieval history, genealogy and heraldry, which has led to him being elected, i.a., for the chairmanship of the Scandinavian Heraldry Society and associate membership of the Academie Internationale d'Heraldique. He is a member of The New Club (Edinburgh), St. Stephen’s Club (London) and City University Club (London).

(Columbia), er professor i Almen & Sammenlignende Statskundskab ved Institut for Statskundskab, Københavns Universitet, hvor han har haft forskellige stillinger siden 1991, og hvor han forsker i politiske institutioner, politisk økonomi og amerikansk politik, herunder særligt valg, valgsystemer og forfatninger. Han skriver fast som kommentator for Berlingske Tidende (1998-2002 og igen siden 2004) og har tidligere gjort det for Politiken (2003-04) og Dagen (2002), og er hyppigt anvendt af radio og TV kommentator om dansk og amerikansk politik. Han er også hyppigt brugt som taler og foredragsholder. Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard er forfatter til flere bøger, senest Individ, Stat og Marked: Studier i Rationalitet og Politik (2005), Bushs Amerika (2005) og Adam Smith: Økonom, Filosof, Samfundstænker (2004).  Han har også redigeret og medforfattet bl.a. Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard har været engageret i en række akademiske organisationer, bl.a. som formand for Dansk Selskab for Statskundskab, og som bestyrelsesmedlem i bl.a. Nordisk Forbund for Statskundskab, International Political Science Association, samt for tænketanken Center for Politiske Studier (CEPOS).  Han er også blevet valgt til Fellow af The Royal Historical Society og vicepræsident for Mont Pelerin Society. Han har været medlem af og næstformand for Forskningsrådet for Samfund og Erhverv samt dettes repræsentant i European Science Foundation.  Han er eller har været tilknyttet flere internationale akademiske tidsskrifter, bl.a. som medlem af redaktionen for Scandinavian Political Studies, Journal of Private Enterprise og Journal of Libertarian Studies og redaktionsrådet for International Encyclopedia of Political Science, og han er European Editor for Public Choice. Bortset fra lidt skiløb og jagt, er det længe siden Peter har dyrket motion, men han nød engang at ride, fægte, karate (4. kyu) og jiu-jitsu (2. kyu)—og han kan stadig godt lide at se tennis. Mindre fysisk krævende hobbies er bl.a. middelalderhistorie, slægtsforskning og heraldik, og i den forbindelse er han bl.a. valgt til formand for Heraldisk Selskab og indvalgt som associeret medlem af Academie Internationale d'Heraldique.  Han er medlem af The New Club (Edinburgh), St. Stephen’s Club (London) og City University Club (London).
